A love of books

A love of books

Books, books, and more books… what’s up with book inspired art? I’m so glad you asked! Let’s turn time back and talk about when I first fell in love with words. I know what you’re thinking, what does falling in love with words have to do with books?! Hang in there…

As a little girl I grew up surrounded by adults who loved books, reading, and yes, words. I distinctly remember my grandmother reading me The Velveteen Rabbit and hearing this quote, “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby.
But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” As a young girl growing girl grow up in a complicated family these words resonated with something deep inside me.

I ended up having a reading delay and reading didn’t fully click till I was 8/9 years old. But when it did, oh the worlds it opened up to me. I discovered time travel was real because I could travel thru history through books (I still love a good history book to this day). I could travel to worlds unknown, unexplored lands, oceans, and galaxies that took brought one’s imagination to life.

I hope through these book blogs to share some of my favorite authors, books, and even products for the bookworm in your life. And I hope that it inspires you to read, to go explore libraries, and to see the treasures that lay within this wonderful thing we call books.
